Cheryl Traveling the World

Growing up in a small Louisiana town, my dad was the railroad station agent and I loved "working" with him. In a way, he was a travel agent! From those early days, my love of trains and travel began. My first trip abroad was to southern Belgium as part of a town twinning program to help keep French culture alive in Louisiana.  My host family provided an inside view of their country, lifestyle and culture, creating a friendship now 30+ years strong through 4 generations! That trip definitely impacted my style of travel - getting off the beaten path and engaging with locals - as well as a later career change to travel advisor. I’ve been so fortunate to have traveled throughout most of the US, Eastern Canada, the Caribbean and Europe, and enjoy helping others experience their travel dreams. Travel changes your perspective while creating special memories along the way! I'd love to help you create those me memories.

More About Cheryl

What do you like to do on vacation?   I always visit local grocery stores and food/fresh markets. I love browsing the local and regional ingredients and specialties, watching the locals shop and usually pick up a few things to bring home. I like bringing home practical things that I use regularly so that I'm reminded often of places I've visited and loved. I also enjoy taking some time to sit in a park or at outdoor dining areas to people watch and just slowing down to soak up the local ambiance. You never know what you'll experience, learn or become part of - I've experienced outdoor concerts, met friendly locals who shared "not to miss" places and was even captured on film as part of the crowd in a movie.

Happy Customers

Sharon G.     Outstanding customer service! I highly recommend Cheryl for any travel planning needs. She booked our all-inclusive anniversary trip and her knowledge and handling of the details were remarkable and made the process so easy. She helped us find an awesome resort that fit our budget.

James T.     I have been using the travel services and expertise provided by Cheryl Walton for about five years sometimes as a solo traveler, other times with my daughter and granddaughter. I have always received first rate service.  Cheryl could not be nicer and promptly tends to any issues or questions that come up.

Erin M.    Cheryl has provided excellent travel services for me and my family - ranging from organizing two very different honeymoons options, an anniversary African safari, a weekend jaunt to Amsterdam and an all-inclusive family reunion for my husband's 40th birthday. She is prompt, thorough and reliable and I highly recommend her!

More about Cheryl

  • What is one of your favorite vacation memories/stories?   My very first day in Europe years ago in Brussels - while visiting the Grand Place, rehearsals for an international dance festival was going on. There were stages and classical dancers practicing their routines, with classical music filling the air. I remember thinking .... "this is exactly what I imagined Europe to be!"   Other favorites include picnicking in Central Park while listening to the New York Philharmonic play classical music under the stars, and a limousine ride through NYC with the family to look at Christmas decorations around the city.
  • Do you have a favorite restaurant or international dish?   Really difficult to pick a favorite....but, some of the meals while traveling that stand out in my memory are Florentine steak in Florence; Steak-frites in Belgium & France; and the traditional rural Belgian and French dishes like aligot or truffade (Le Plomb du Cantel, Paris)beef bourguignon, Belgium's carbonnade flamande (beef and beer stew), clafoutis, and local wines -  the list is too long to list here! Also had the best spaghetti and meatballs ever in Nancy, France.
